SAL 4 seasons - Summer (still) in progress

The second part of the 4 seasons SAL hosted by Il Coniglio nel Cappello is coming along pretty well. Once I'm done with the border I'll send my picture over.

Centrato in pieno.

It was 2006, on August 24th, the fifth anniversary of our first kiss. And I was given the sweetest little thing I could imagine. Twenty love poems and a song of despair by Pablo Neruda, my favorite book. I used to take it with me everywhere I went. At the seaside, in the bag for university, on the train: when I opened that book I had a piece of the world all for myself and could get lost in the embrace of words. I already had it. "I went to the bookshop and look for a book you may like, I thought this one would be perfect for you". My heart melted. He got right to the point. This gesture showed me everything about him, his being distracted about obvious things and the fact that he knew me so well. My two books have been together since, one next to the other, and they still melt my heart when I look at them. Because the small things are the big things and say so much in their spontaneity. I've been making with this man what spring does with cherry trees.

Un buon matrimonio... va costruito - A good marriage... must be created

Man and I, some ten years ago, in Venice
The day Man and I first met I knew it, he was the one. It didn't matter if back then I was just 14 and we were waiting for the train to go to school. The moment I hold his hand I saw in an instant what would have come. It's been a long time:  best friends for years, a bad song sung at a karaoke bar, almost a decade long engagement, 5 years of mariage, two wonderful children and arguments, fights, laughs, do-overs, long faces, smiles, for better and for worse. This is how the happily ever after works in the real world, flavored with a little bit of everything. And it's the answers we found together, while holding our hands, that make us stronger as a couple. A good marriage must be created and our project still has a long way to go.

Un buon matrimonio - A good marriage

Man and I will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary this September. Is there anything better than a cross stitch project for the summer to remember this happy event?

I'll be stitching A good marriage by Lizzie Kate and week after week I'll be also meditating on the sweet message it contains... Let's hope I'll complete it before September 4th.

Asilo, arriviamo! - Kindergarten, here we come!

Becca is starting kindergarten at the end of the summer one year earlier. She has already had her trial week and was amused. She really can't wait. In the list of things we are to prepare there is also a set of bags and my girl expressly required her beloved Minnie to be part of them.
Craftsy's free class Bag Making Basics - Drawstring Bag and Bucket Bag was a lot of help and the free templates we found on Positevely Splendid.com too.

I used some fabric I had in my stash and backstitched the name. Fusible web for applique, a round of blanket stitch, some ribbon and a button as embellishment. Our set of bags is ready for September to come!
