Natale tutto l'anno: Febbraio - Christmas all year round: February

Eccoci qui con la seconda tappa del mio progetto lungo un anno: Stocking della serie Christmas Spirit Double Flip-It di Lizzie Kate. Che dire, ricamarlo è un piacere e anche svegliarmi presto nel fine settimana per dedicare un po' di tempo al punto croce non è un peso. Questa simpatica calza della Befana mi ha ricordato per tutto il mese il mio Pulcino. Da qualche tempo a questa parte per addormentarsi la sera si leva i calzini, tira fuori i piedini dalla coperta, mi abbraccia e crolla. Tappa del prossimo mese: Cookies!!!!

This is the second part of my 2016 project: Stocking from the series Christmas Spirit Double Flip-It by Lizzie Kate. Stitching it is so relaxing that I really don't mind waking up very early in the weekend to have some time for cross stitch. This happy Christmas stocking has reminded me all month long of my baby boy. Lately, before falling asleep at night, he takes both socks off, bare feet outside his blanket, he hugs me and starts snoring. Next month: Cookies!!!!

Di cuori e cioccolato/Hearts and chocolate

Cosa c'è di meglio che passare San Valentino con le persone che ami? Galeotta fu la domenica e la pioggia, tuttavia a casa nostra si respira tanto tanto amore. Mi sono alzata di buon mattino per preparare il dessert, ancora una volta mi sono affidata a Valentina e alle sue meravigliose ricette: cuori red velvet. Ce li siamo appena gustati insieme a una fumante tazza di té, ottimo risultato al palato ma vi risparmio la foto perché di aspetto erano, come mio solito, orribili (faccio proprio pena con la ganache al cioccolato). Gli uomini di casa ci hanno viziato a pranzo con un vassoio di sushi e una piantina rigorosamente rossa e io ho fatto i salti mortali per recuperare la scatola di cioccolatini extra fondenti per mio marito che avevo nascosto in macchina. Che giornata migliore di oggi per condividere un progetto tutto cuoricioso? Commissione della mia Pulcina che ha scelto ogni dettaglio: righe lilla e viola, cuori fucsia, copriorecchie e trecce. Come schema di base ho utilizzato il free A hat with love di My hobby is crochet e ho poi aggiunto un paio di giri, i paraorecchie e le treccine. Filato Morbidone di Rial Filati.

What's better than spending Valentine Days with your loved ones? Blame it on today being Sunday or blame it on the rain but today our home was filled with love. I woke up early to make today's dessert and once again I used one of Valentina's wonderful recipes: red velvet hearts (recipe in Italian only). We've just tasted them together with a cup of hot tea and they were delicious. I really can't post a photo though, they just looked too ugly (I'm no good with chocolate ganache). My men treated us with sushi and a red kalanchoe and I had the hardest time getting the box of extra dark chocolates for my husband out of my car without being seen. Today's also the perfect day to share a heart-y project! Hat commissioned by daughter, who, by the way, designed it all: purple and lilac stripes, pink hearts, earflaps and braids. Sugar block club: Gennaio e Febbraio - January and February

Devo averlo raccontato già un milione di volte tuttavia mi sono avvicinata al patchwork Craftsy. E con Craftsy la migliore insegnante che abbia mai avuto: Amy Gibson. Ho mosso i primi passi in questo mondo grazie al suo Craftsy Block of the Month 2012, che occuperà per sempre un posto speciale nel mio cuore e sul letto della mia bambina. Quest'anno Amy ospita sul proprio blog il BOM Sugar Block Club 2016 e la novità 2016 è che l'iscrizione di base è gratuita. Ho già realizzato le piastrelle di gennaio e di febbraio e devo confessare che sono molto arrugginita. Entrambe le piastrelle sono tutt'altro che precise e il blocco di febbraio è tutto storto. Devo proprio migliorare (o forse è giunto il momento di recuperare un piedino da 1/4 di pollice e di smettere di andare a occhio!). In attesa della piastrella di marzo, c'è nessuno che si unisce a me?

Non avevo mai toccato una macchina da cucire prima benché rappresentasse per me una fonte di immensa attrazione grazie ai bellissimi ricordi dei pomeriggi trascorsi accanto alla mia mamma che lavorava quando ero bambina. Iniziai con un corso in paese ma, essendo troppo incinta e dovendo stare a riposo, ben presto scoprii il mio eldorado: la piattaforma online

I must have said this thousands time, anyway, I got to know the quilting world (and fell completely in love with it) when I was pregnant with my first child. I had no idea how to use a sewing machine back then, even though it attracted me very much since I had wonderful memories of the afternoons I spent with my mom while she sew. I started out with a basic class in town but I was soon too pregnant and the doctor wanted me to rest so I discovered my El Dorado, the online platform Craftsy, and the best quilting teacher I've ever had so far, Amy Gibson. My first big quilting project was her Craftsy Blog of the Month 2012, which will always have a special place in my heart and on my daughter's bed. This year Amy is hosting on her blog the Sugar Block Club 2016 and regular membership is completely free. January and February are ready but I must confess that I need to refresh my skills. Both blocks are all but good and February is all off. I think it's time for me to buy a 1/4 foot and start aiming for more accuracy. Now, let's just wait for March. Anyone wishing to quilt along with me?
