BOMbastico! - BOMbastic!

Casualmente, qualche settimana fa, una foto visualizzata nella mia cronologia Facebook ha attirato la mia attenzione. Si trattava di un'intervista a Heather di The Sewing Loft e la foto incriminata era un'anteprima del quilt che avrebbe presentato a breve per il suo A Starry Night Quilt Bom. Ho aspettato pazientemente la data del lancio, il 15 febbraio, e una volta visto il layout non ho potuto resistere!!!! Questo è il mio secondo BOM per quest'anno: la disposizione asimmetrica e la grossa stella al centro mi hanno conquistata. Non sono ancora convinta della scelta dei tessuti, per il momento sto utilizzando gli avanzi del grosso progetto a cui sto lavorando e di cui non vedo l'ora di parlare. Dovrei puntare a una maggiore precisione e farò del mio meglio, vorrei solo una giornata di 36 ore! I primi due blocchi sono pronti, ora aspettiamo metà marzo!

A couple of weeks ago a picture in my Facebook timeline accidentally caught my attention. It was from an interview with Heather from The Sewing Loft and the picture was a sneak peek of her upcoming A Starry Night Quilt BOM. I patiently waited for the launch date, that was February 15, and after seeing the whole layout I couldn't resist. This is the second BOM I'm working on this year: the asymmetrical layout and the big star won me over. I'm not yet sure of my fabric choices, I'm actually using scraps from my big secret project I can't wait to talk about. I should aim at more accuracy and I'll try my best, only thing is I wish my days were 36 hours long. First two blocks ready. Now let's just wait till mid-March.

Sugar block club: Gennaio e Febbraio - January and February

Devo averlo raccontato già un milione di volte tuttavia mi sono avvicinata al patchwork Craftsy. E con Craftsy la migliore insegnante che abbia mai avuto: Amy Gibson. Ho mosso i primi passi in questo mondo grazie al suo Craftsy Block of the Month 2012, che occuperà per sempre un posto speciale nel mio cuore e sul letto della mia bambina. Quest'anno Amy ospita sul proprio blog il BOM Sugar Block Club 2016 e la novità 2016 è che l'iscrizione di base è gratuita. Ho già realizzato le piastrelle di gennaio e di febbraio e devo confessare che sono molto arrugginita. Entrambe le piastrelle sono tutt'altro che precise e il blocco di febbraio è tutto storto. Devo proprio migliorare (o forse è giunto il momento di recuperare un piedino da 1/4 di pollice e di smettere di andare a occhio!). In attesa della piastrella di marzo, c'è nessuno che si unisce a me?

Non avevo mai toccato una macchina da cucire prima benché rappresentasse per me una fonte di immensa attrazione grazie ai bellissimi ricordi dei pomeriggi trascorsi accanto alla mia mamma che lavorava quando ero bambina. Iniziai con un corso in paese ma, essendo troppo incinta e dovendo stare a riposo, ben presto scoprii il mio eldorado: la piattaforma online

I must have said this thousands time, anyway, I got to know the quilting world (and fell completely in love with it) when I was pregnant with my first child. I had no idea how to use a sewing machine back then, even though it attracted me very much since I had wonderful memories of the afternoons I spent with my mom while she sew. I started out with a basic class in town but I was soon too pregnant and the doctor wanted me to rest so I discovered my El Dorado, the online platform Craftsy, and the best quilting teacher I've ever had so far, Amy Gibson. My first big quilting project was her Craftsy Blog of the Month 2012, which will always have a special place in my heart and on my daughter's bed. This year Amy is hosting on her blog the Sugar Block Club 2016 and regular membership is completely free. January and February are ready but I must confess that I need to refresh my skills. Both blocks are all but good and February is all off. I think it's time for me to buy a 1/4 foot and start aiming for more accuracy. Now, let's just wait for March.
